Well done to those teams and individuals who have already got their stall plans in for the fayre.
There are some really original ideas and we have been so impressed by your ideas and organisation so far.
Reminder: the deadline for stall plans is this coming Friday 30th November. This will give us time to look at them carefully and make any necessary adjustments to your ideas.

Keep them coming Year 6 - this is your chance to run a very exciting event.

Nina Lazarski Workshop

Today, Year 6 all enjoyed a workshop with local illustrator, Nina Lazarski. Nina worked with each of the three classes for an hour throughout the morning. She was able to tell us what her job involves and show us some of the illustrations she has produced for books, museums and company advertising.
Nina gave us lots of ideas for space illustrations, to support our writing based on the book 'George's Secret Key to the Universe' by Stephen and Lucy Hawking. These will help us later this week as we begin to write our own chapters for the book.

Nina will, later on in the term, go on to judge our writing; she will have the very challenging job of selecting one winner from the year group. She will then work with the winner to produce an illustration to complement their writing.

Thank you so much for inspiring both our art and writing, Nina! We look forward to sending you our chapters later in the term.

The Year 6 team would like to say thank you very much for supporting our cake sale. We had so many cakes we were able to sell for two days, making a staggering £165! Whether you made or bought a cake from the stall, we really appreciate your support.

We will remember them

We have been working on creating  three World 1 War displays in Year 6. 6ZB looked at how news was communicated throughout the war. 6JF looked at the very important roles played by a range of animals in the war effort. In 6CB, they learnt about and took part in typical wartime exercise drills.
Come and see the displays throughout the school in the next few weeks; they look fantastic.

Cake Sale

Just a reminder that Year 6 are running a cake sale on Tuesday. We are hoping you will get baking or buying over the weekend. Remember, you can also bring 20p to buy a cake too.

6JF's trip to Noadswood Science Department

Today Mrs Harris and Mrs Bailey accompanied 6JF on a trip to Noadswood to take part in a Spooky Science session. Many thanks to Mrs Guppy and her team of Science Leaders, many of them ex-Orchard pupils.
